From Rags to Riches: Matt and Amanda Clarkson

Its always amazing to hear stories of success, specially from people who came from the low end of the spectrum. An Australian couple Matt and Amanda Clarkson is an example of such. Just like Douglas McCoy, they ReCreated themselves and rose above, leaving their low-paying jobs.

The couple, now in their 40s, started off their online business in their spare room. Both were broke after leaving  school at 16, ad ventured on with jobs. Matt was a carpenter and Amanda went off selling pies in her rusty van – The Pie Princess.

Today the couple earns around $1.2 million a year, having a yacht, luxury cars, and a beach-front home on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

They decided to make a change with their lives and tried venturing in the online business through eBay. They both quit their jobs and dedicated their time selling online using the $800 laptop they bought from selling Matt’s tools.

Within two years, they reaped the fruits of their labor and became millionaires. Their trade includes camping coolers, homewares, DVDs, books, and even the stuff in their shelves at home. “We learned quickly not to assume what people buy,” Matt said.

Today they spend just 10 hours a week monitoring their sales and financial activity online. “Anything worthwhile takes effort and dedication but you can live your dreams,” Amanda said.

Just like Doug McCoy, this couple proves that its never too late to ReCreate yourself!
